114: How to deepen your personal brand through shadow work

As a service-based business owner, how often do you take time to dive into shadow work for yourself and your business? This type of work involves uncovering and examining parts of ourselves that we often try to ignore, like feelings of jealousy or insecurity.

It can be difficult, intimidating, and maybe even a little painful, but doing the shadow work is crucial to understanding and knowing yourself so that you can build a brand that feels authentic to you and help others in a way that will truly resonate.

In today’s episode, I’m explaining why shadow work is so important for our businesses, some prompts and questions to get you started on your shadow work journey, and sharing how my own shadow work journey has led me to make some big changes in my podcast and business in this final episode of 2022!

Thank you so much for joining me for season 4 of the podcast this year. Join me again in January as we kick off season 5!

What you’ll find in this episode:

Quotes:

[00:01:08] I love shadow work. I love talking about it. I love doing it even though it can be kind of confronting and painful. And it's such an important part of your business and your brand, particularly for those of us who are service based entrepreneurs, because we really need to know ourselves deeply, all the little nooks and crannies of ourselves so that we can show up as an authentic version of ourselves, help others in the best way that we can, and build a brand that's really true to who we are.

[00:06:26] There is no endpoint to this work, so that is not to say that you need to be perfect or have all of your personal growth work resolved and all your things tied up in a neat bow. That's impossible. But you need to be on the journey of self-growth and self-discovery and evolution if you're going to invite your clients to do the same.

[00:16:43] For some of the changes in the podcast, you'll probably see me do some sample coaching sessions and some sample human design readings. Just little mini human design readings, little mini coaching sessions, sample coaching sessions, just to kind of get a flavor and a feel for how I do things. Because to me, when I hear someone else being coached, it makes me a better coach and I can apply it to coaching myself. [...] So I want to be able to offer that here. You'll still have the solo episodes with me. I'm not going anywhere. I'll be here.

[00:19:28] I felt like there was a space missing too, in the coaching industry where you could pay a lot of money for ongoing, like a super intensive one on one support. Not everybody is interested in that level of intensity and not always it's not always needed that kind of one on one coaching. Or there are these really structured programs, online course programs usually, or even group programs where they're really specific and super targeted. But there was this whole space in the middle that I think we exist most often in our business where we need support on the thing we're working on now, or we just want to have a thought partner around something. [...] So having that group coaching support, I thought would be really helpful for people.
